Well... it's been a crazy, hectic week. We had a party on Friday and Saturday, so that is what I'm blaming on my weight gain. We both cheated to some degree both days. If you would have been here, you would understand.
On a different, more controversial note... I've been keeping an eye on my 11-year-old daughter, Brenna, for a couple of months. She has put on alot of weight in the past month or so. I decided I need to do something about it. She is 5'4" and weighs 130 lbs. which isn't awful, but she carries all of it in her belly, so I can't find anything that fits her. Her waist measurement right now is more than mine, and I'm 28 lbs heavier than her! So I asked her what she thought about training with me to do a 5K, which she excitedly agreed to. On top of the workout, she's going to eat the same thing Curt and I do. So before I get flack about this, let me explain how she was eating. I swear, it was non-stop, all day long from the time she got up til the time she went to bed. She's actually really excited about all of this and loves the food. I will keep you all posted on how she does on this.
I did a full 5K today, had to walk a little of it. I did the whole thing in 37 minutes. Definitely room for improvement, which sadly excites me!
I think it's great that she's going to be eating like you and Curt! Cut the wheat, the belly will go... and you might see other amazing improvements. One of my grandkids will be staying with me for a year overseas beginning in June. She is 8 and weighs 106 pounds :( She will be eating my diet. And that's to say I eat A LOT... I just eat healthy. She will also be doing a lot of walking around Europe with me and bike riding :)
ReplyDeleteI'll give her a bit more carbs than I eat... like sweet potatoes and rice, but in small quantities... we will be a WHEAT FREE house!
I'm glad you are going to do this with her... sending you a supportive hug... you are her MOM and YOU KNOW BEST!!! xoxo
p.s. you're doing a 5K in 5 minutes less than me, so good on you!!!
Totally agree with you and Sandi. Keep it light and positive, make it about the activity / getting fit. I remember starting with my weight issues when I was a little older than Brenna and I wish my Mum had done something positive for me like you are trying to do. I wish she had asked if there was anything wrong and why I was eating and not been so judgemental. Hope it goes well for you all! Well done on the run, that is an awesome time! xoxo
