Falling apart... but happy? (from Curt)
But I feel like my body is acting like Jamie... digging its heels in, kicking and screaming, telling me NO MORE!!!
We've talked about my foot and the torn ligament... that's still just as bad as it was before, so it's not getting any better. I've just learned to suck it up and limp.
But now there's a bigger problem... At the age of 12 I had my first physical so I could play football. They noticed right away that I had a hernia, but decided that since it's not ever hurt me, that it's ok. Well here we are 20 years later, and I'm trying to get healthy... It started just before we left for Vegas, but got REALLY bad while we were there. While we were walking around I could feel some pain below my belly button. I didn't think anything of it until I went to sit down, and HOLY COW! I could honestly feel my guts being pinched out of the tear in my abdominal wall! I sit down (slowly) and bend my head down to my knees to get them all pushed out of the tear. I know that sounds horrible, but I can FEEL it pushing stuff around, so it is freaky, but painful at the same time. After the 2 hour walk at the grand canyon... walking up and down the strip... walking and standing for 5-7 hrs at Fremont: each time (plus others) it would be so painful.
So now, a couple of weeks later, I can still feel the pain down there, but haven't had to push my guts back inside. I'm going to see the doctor about it on Wednesday, we'll see what happens. I'm thinking that if I have to get surgery, I want them to fix my foot at the same time! lol... might as well fix everything if I have to be put down. Oh, I mean... put under... ;)

Ugh... I have lost all motivation! Not in this diet but in things I had going on in my life that I just don't feel like doing/ dealing with. For starters... I was doing a Bible Study at our church about Breaking Free from things that have you in bondage. I was absolutely on board for doing this til it got a little to personal for me. It makes you take a good long look at your life and evaluate where your heart is and what you need to change. I'm sorry... but I do enjoy my alcohol. Yes... It could probably even be considered an addiction by some. And also, yes.. It is something I should probably enjoy less of and less of more often. But I have a really hard time just cutting it off. Anyways... this morning was Bible Study day. I even promised last week I would be there. I just don't want to go. So I didn't. And I will be completely honest here. I NEED to be going to this. I need the encouragement, the time with other women, the tools to study the Bible. I just don't want to. I'm the little girl, digging my heels into the ground, screaming, "I don't wanna go!!" And besides the Bible study, I'm on a hold-out out when it comes to dealing parents and those relationships. I don't want to talk to any of them, go to their houses, do things for them, spend time with them... Curt and I both have super domineering moms, that seem to think that it's their God-given rights to control our lives like we're puppets on THEIR strings. Only we are both working really hard to either cut those strings or drastically lengthen them. I know that cutting strings is drastic. I don't want us to have no relationship with our parents. I just want there to be a healthy separation.... you know... letting us make choices WITHOUT them inserting their 2 cents on every single thing, and being able to do something, go somewhere, without them know and needing to know our itinerary. At this point, Curt's mom is being the worst about this. In fact, my mom is afraid to piss me off so she doesn't give ME much of an opinion on anything. Except, a few weeks ago, she yelled at me for saying, "My butt, he's not in the wrong," speaking about my brother and his divorce. Apparently, that is inappropriate language. If only she really heard me when I get going... I think I could get her to curl up in the fetal position with her fingers stuffed in her ears.
So since I decided to not go to Bible Study, we slept in this morning past 10 a.m. It was fabulous! But... I woke up in the middle of the night in horrible pain. In my dream, I was scaling a wall and tweaked my shoulder. Well... when I got up this morning, my shoulder was (and still is and getting worse) so messed up. I couldn't wash my hair or dry it, barely got my bra on without falling on the ground. Just about everything I do sends me into screaming fits. So I'll give it til Monday and then make an appointment. I was seriously considering a tall, stiff drink, but I think that instead, I'll pop a hydrocodone every so often... blame it on the boob job so I feel better about it. But seriously, my shoulder hurts worse than the boob job ever did! Crazy!!
Be proud of us... no soda for either one of us!

So we were both down yesterday and both down again today. We started working out again. We rode bikes yesterday, and today, well... it's our only day we can sleep in this week so we did and we lounged around in our unders and watch TV all day long!
I'm pretty much hating doing the damage control from these vacations. I guess I thought that like before, those extra few pounds would just melt off, but wow... am I wrong!

Boob watch... boobs are feeling fantastic. No pain at all, and they're feeling quite natural. We got up early to go to Boise for a doctor's appointment, got there and found out that it is tomorrow. Darn it... I was really planning on sleeping in. So I need to wait. I'd like to start lifting weights again, but I'm going to wait til I get the go ahead from the doctor.
Back to the weight. Curt is up 3 or 4 lbs from his weight when we left 2 weeks ago. I, on the other hand, am up 7 lbs. I feel weird... kind of gross. My stomach feels... full? That's the only way to put it. Mostly, it feels like I swallowed a five pound weight. And bloated. I'm a joy to be around today! I was going to start running today, but not when my stomach feels this bad. I'm afraid I would get a ways out and my stomach will go into evacuation mode. Not a good thing. We're going to try to start working out again tomorrow, and I'll start an official weigh in tomorrow (fingers and toes are crossed!) and we'll go from there.

March 16, 2012- Las Vegas still
We visited the Grand Canyon yesterday. Absolutely gorgeous! Pictures don't do it justice.
We were on that excursion for14 hours, came back, showered, got dressed and hit the strip at 10 pm for dinner at the Harley-Davidson cafe.
Today, we change hotels again, and then go to the Titanic exhibit, shopping (i'm out of underwear... Too many showers) and Tournament of the Kings feast and show. We're really looking forward to that one

March 15, 2012.... Still in Vegas
We're sitting here in Vegas, on a tour bus, waiting to head out to the Grand Canyon. We had big plans for yesterday, but as we walked into our hotel to check in, we were stopped to get cheaper tickets by going and listening to a timeshare presentation. Well, 6 hours later, and a couple thousand dollars poorer, we are proud new "owners" of property on Las Vegas Blvd, which normally runs about 30 million dollars an acre. Plus we got a free Caribbean cruise out of the deal. Anyways, we are pretty excited at the idea of traveling more. And with our family trip coming up this summer, its going to dramatically start paying for itself. AND... Because I used to work for the state of Idaho, we got a deal that we seriously couldn't refuse.
So i'm feeling much better than I did the day we arrived. I'm not sure how much details I should give here, but... We're all friends, right? Traveling makes me nervous to say the least. So 3 laxatives later... I'm feeling MUCH better. something I realized about this diet, now that we're not following it super close for the week, my body isn't too hot on new food. My stomach goes into "abort, abort" mode when processed or fried food enter it.
I am somewhat shocked by the different culture here. It almost seems like we're in a different country. People walk around everywhere, carrying their bottles of alcohol. I'm going to have too take a picture off that and post it later. Anyhow, back home, we have this little "open container" law that will get you arrested if you are walking around with your drink of choice. Yesterday morning, we got up and were walking around, blown away by everyone drinking at 10 in the morning. And the smoking.... Amazing! Everyone smokes, anywhere they want. Just not used to it.

What a day... I'm frazzled tonight, but it's my own darn fault. We went clothes shopping. That was LOTS of fun! And then, we went to the mall and got fitted for a bra, to see what size I ended up being, a 38DD?!?!?!?! What the hell! Well, I was slightly surprised, but did you know it's nearly, NO, it IS impossible to fine cute bras that size? I did buy some 38C bras and those are cute, so I may stick with those. I bought a pair of cute boots a few weeks ago to wear w/ my skinny jeans. I love them. But today, I was at the Bass outlet store and found SUPER CUTE boots on clearance. Originally they were $130, I got them for $15! This is the first time Curt has actually seen me in heels. I really need to start being more of a girly girl. I've really gotten into a baggy jeans, baggy shirt mode. Now that I'm getting my skinny girl body back, it's time to start being more of a woman. Also, I got 2 more pairs of skinny jeans, 2 sizes smaller than what I wore in December! And I got some cute, tight tank tops and a couple cute sweater. I had lots of fun. It's a blast buying clothes for my smaller body, bigger boobs! And Curt actually about several new shirts. He's not near as excited about his new clothes as I am, but he is a guy and all.
We worked out tonight. Crap! It kinda felt like it has been a month since I worked out. Oh yeah, that's right. It HAS been a month. On a VERY high note, I was very worried how my body would handle it, specifically my boobs and chest muscles. I felt pretty darn good! My daughter, Brenna, (11 years old) is starting to play volleyball at school. She's only in the 5th grade, but she is nearly my height, 5'7". I figure by the time she's in junior and senior high, the coaches are going to be all over her playing. She's going to be a tall thing for a girl. So we're starting now on getting down volleyball and basketball skills. She was actually returning my spikes and almost has setting down. This is where I sigh and say, yes... I'm getting old and I miss my days of playing high school sport and yes... I live vicariously through ALL of my children and their athletic accomplishments. Later, while Curt and I were playing racquetball, I was playing super hard and hitting it as hard as I could. Very little pain. We ended up stopping because I was starting to hurt, and I wasn't sure if it was a stitch in my side or if my chest muscles were hurting. I figured I better play it safe. I also figured that my doctor would have killed me if he saw me doing that. Besides that, Curt's foot started to really act up. (It's hurting pretty bad tonight.) So to the bikes we went and really, those were so low impact that I'm not worried about doing that again. Now, I'm considering lifting weights again, but I think I'll wait for one more week. I do miss lifting weights. Oh, by the way, we haven't played since last September. I'm down over 20 lbs from the last time we played. It is AMAZING how much faster I move. I've always had alot of speed, but to move fast with little effort was fantastic! I can't wait to get the last 20 lbs off! I'm thinking about starting the "couch to 5K" but again, I think I'm going to wait a few more weeks so I can be sure I'm completely healed.
I managed to break the scales this evening, so unless I really get moving in the morning, I'm guess we won't get to weigh in the morning. I'm bummed... but ... we ate and ate and ate today, or so it seems. I don't think I want to see the number.
So a quick question... am I the only one having a hard time getting out of the fat girl mindset? I find myself grabbing my old clothing size stuff over and over again! I know I don't wear that anymore yet it happens almost every time.

We slept in this morning so we didn't eat breakfast. We were up and running. Curt had a parenting class at the courthouse. He was modifying his divorce papers. Lots of fun... And I had a hair appointment with my friend. I got a coloring and cut and my eyebrows waxed. Maybe I'll post a picture of it tomorrow. I'm pretty happy with it.
CURT HIT A NEW GOAL TODAY! WooHoo!! 4 whopping stones! I'm so thoroughly impressed! And mine is a new low also. I'm a little worried that I'm going to be up tomorrow. I'm also a little worried Curt may be up also, but that does seem to be our trend. Anyways, Curt is 3.4 lbs from his Las Vegas goal and I'm 1.6 lbs from my goal. The funny thing about that is this... I weighed in this morning at 6:30 when I got up with the kids and weighed 156.6 lbs (the 0.6 lbs down), but as soon as the last 2 walked out the door, I was out like a light. I would almost guarantee that I was asleep before the bus even picked them up. So when I woke up again at 11:15, just for giggles, I weighed again and was 155.6! A full pound down! I contemplated making that my weight for the day, but decided to keep my early morning weight... so I'm not extremely disappointed tomorrow morning.

OMG... check out my awesome gain... Yeah... I'm not at all happy about that. Those stupid peanuts and rolls yesterday. Or... maybe it's a gain from water from all the veggies. Anyways, I'm a little irritated, but life goes on. I told Curt this morning that if his number was up again, we were going to do 3 PP days in a row, and what do you know. He was up 0.2 lbs, 3rd day in a row. 0.2 isn't bad, but come on... Then I weighed in. Yes, PP started sounding really good at that point. So, 3 PP days in a row, it is. I went to the store this evening and found cube steaks and decided those were a good choice for dinner and wow were they good! I couldn't keep Berlyn, my 8 year old, out of my plate. She was worse than the dogs! I promised her I would make them for them tomorrow for dinner. Happy Girl! Anyways, it was a good day for the most part.
Oh! TTOM finally came, 2 weeks late! I have to tell you... NEVER have I been more happy for this to come. I was super worried that I was going to start while we were in Vegas. But we're 8 days out so it should be perfect timing, AND I won't ovulate down there and that's almost just as relieving!

We were doing fantastic... until we decided to try out the new Texas Roadhouse restaurant in town. The peanuts were calling our names and were just down right fabulous. And then the rolls... omg... the rolls. They were fresh out of the over and I have a hard time turning down any bread fresh out of the over. And then worse... the waitress brought us 3 servings of them. I finally had to tell her that I hate her (while I was laughing) and quit bring them out because I WILL eat them. Anyways.. tomorrow... we will be better! And we actually have a work out planned for the morning.
We're going to work really hard on making sure we alternate the PP and PV days. Even tho we REALLY like our veggies.

I got myself a new toy today!!
Once again, Curt has a new low! So proud of him! He's been working so hard, and we've been eating out quite a bit, but practicing good food choices. This afternoon, we went to a little antique mall and had lunch at, seriously... a hole in the wall Vietnamese restaurant. It was cute, and very, very tasty! I'm not sure I would eat there again, but it really was good.
Boob watch: Went tanning. Anything that was white is so burned right now. Anyhow... The tanning girl asked me if I wanted to go higher than 8 minutes and my reply was, "HECK NO! I had a boob job 2 weeks ago, and they hurt worse from the sun burn than the surgery!" And that is the absolute truth! I'm not saying I'm going to do it, but I think that I could start lifting weighs again. I feel fantastic now. The first week and a half sucked (mostly because it was difficult finding a comfortable position to sleep and therefore, lacked in the sleeping department), but last Friday, I turned a corner for the better and can't tell you the difference. I had no desire to go on this Vegas trip until Friday. I felt horrible because Curt was (still is!) so excited about it, and I just kinda had this "BLAH" attitude about it. But I'm excited now! 10 days and counting...
On another note... I'm thinking of starting another blog. Not remotely related to this one at all. I LOVE tattoos and I have a fantastic camera. I'm thinking of combining the two. If I do, I will keep you posted!

Curt had to take a quick break and come pick me up and dropped it off at the shop. Maybe later... I'm tossing around the idea of taking Lily out for a walk, but it's cold. It snowed ALOT this morning and it's quite brisk out there!
Today's weigh ins for both of us were both fantastic! Of course, Curt hit a new low today and yesterday also. My weigh in would have been a new low had it not been for 2 lbs of new boobs. So I'm hoping that in the next 2 or 3 days, I'll have a true all new low even with the boobs!

We both drank alot of soda today.
It's been awhile since we posted. We've been fairly good when it comes to the diet. We've had a couple of cheats, but all in all, we've mostly stayed within the guidelines of Dukan.
We went to Costco today and stocked up on a refrigerator full of veggies. We're going to veg ourselves out for the next few days. I've been very irregular and I'm hoping this will get things moving again.
My water intake has been atrocious! I lost my water bottle and it's really thrown me for a loop. Bad excuse, but sadly, true.
I've started feel alot better. I was telling Curt last Friday that I feel great. And I really do. I'm actually excited about going to Las Vegas now. I almost think that I can get back into exercising again in the next day or two. On an different note, my period is 5 days late. That's frustrating for me since I'm THAT person that has everything scheduled and I'm hoping it doesn't pop up just in time to go to Vegas. I read up on the internet, and you know how everything on the internet is true, that surgery/ anesthesia can screw up periods.
